Tara had a great personality, and always wanted to be noticed for it. When she was a little girl, she used to put Michael Jackson on the Reel to Reel, one of her moms negligee’s (it was the only light, filmy fabric a 6 year old could find!) and dance around the living room pretending to be a backup singer. From her earliest memories, singing more than a few minutes caused severe pain in her throat. But she didn’t know any better - she thought it was normal.

When she was a teenager, she was in 4th period math one day when her mom came bursting into the classroom. She caused such commotion that the instructor almost fell over. Tara could barely laugh with the others, her throat had been in dreadful pain lately. It was at such a high level of constant pain that her mom made her go to the doctor last week. In fact, that’s why mom was there. She removed Tara from class and pulled her into the hallway. She then proceeded to speak the most terrible news a teenager could hear: her pain was diagnosed as throat cancer, and her voice box would have to be removed.

Fast forward 15 years.. Tara is not only living, she is thriving. She found a way to make this über challenging situation into a blessing. She used her disability and her experience with a computerized larynx to create a company for the computerized voice market.
